What is the test for?
Your denitst will probably have given you a good overview of why they are referring you for a dental x-ray
What is the preparation for the test?
None. Although you may be asked to remove objects such as jewellert if they are likely to distort the image.
How is the test performed?
A specialist piece of equipment is used, this allows for a complete panoramic view in a single image. As it is vital for the image clarity that you keep your head still, you will be asked to bite on to a soft, sterile mouth-piece. This assists stablisation of your head. The machine will move around you, while taking the image. The actual imaging time is often less than a minute and the machine does not make contact during the revolution.
